Meant to be a bumper season (although they seem to say that every year!)
I'm off to Mt Hotham this weekend for the opening anyway.
Cheers.
Hi all,Just curious what the locals think the start of this years ski season will be like? Will most likely look to NZ again anyway but it would be nice to incorporate an Oz ski trip with some touring down that way.We went to Perisher in July 05 but would like to look at Thredbo if we were to go again. Thanks

Just locked in our week at Charlotte Pass. Don't really care about the snow (well, I do actually) since at Charlotte's even if there is only a few square metres of snow, chances are you'll have it all to yourself.
Last year we spent almost the entire week in September out of bounds and it was FANTASTIC. Spring snow is like cement where people have skied on it all day, but off-piste even slush rides like you wouldn't believe when it's untracked. We were still getting freshies at 3pm.
While your there, i recommend the pizza at The General (sorry little plug for a friend that owns it)
Hoping to get up there in August for a week, but starting our build soon so may not get time.I've boarded at all the resorts in Vic and NSW, and Hotham is still my favourite (done a season there and at Thredbo)
Have fun
3 Charlotte pass fans on one thread!? Didn't realise how smart we all were here - i'm there every year as well guys. Look out for the big bloke rolling down Guthries each morning! I'll be there from 16/8![]()
I was up at Hotham last weekend but there was no snow to talk about. It is cold enough for snow but we need the rain for snow to happen. Hotham will be trying to make snow like mad for the opening but as at last weekend you could ski for 50 metres, walk for 100 metres, ski for 50 metres etc.
We took the falcon work car up and only encountred a small bit of ice around CRB hill. Come for the rides in the chairlift this weekend! It may snow on Monday.
