My paypal account is connected to my savings account. With my visa as a backup. Pleased to say I had a product I bought not arrive and no reply from the seller, after a month I got a full refund from Paypal.
Has anyone had experience with PayPal particularly paying other than credit card?
What ither sort of transactions are there, bank transfe, debit card? I am looking at overseas transactions

I normally get the payment taken straight out of my bank account ..... takes a couple of extra days to pay for the item but works well . Has never let me down. Love using paypal for overseas stuff as i don't have a credit card
.
I use paypal all the time. Mine is also debited from my acc. I have noticed that it takes a long time to clear (up too a week) I recently ordered some cheap h1 hid inserts from china, took 8 days for the payment to clear. Obviously the seller is less than impressed.
I too have had a full refund from paypal. $350!!
cant fault them on that

I think it has got to be one of the easiest and safest methods of purchasing stuff.
You always have a 3rd party who 'is in control' of the transaction - and can step in when there are problems.
I have used it for ages - no problems at all - my is linked to my savings account, with my credit card as a 'back up' - but you can configure it the way you want it - so you could have it debit your credit card or debit card first, then have you savings or checking account as the back up
No complaints from this quarter.
Paypal only works, if the following happen:
1. seller agrees to a refund
2. seller doesn't respond to the claim
3. seller must have money in his/her account
4. seller is an honest and reasonable person
If the paypal claim isn't straight forward, then it falls to pieces and the buyer gets screwed. Paypal will often send an email from America (despite paying thru paypal Australia) saying your claim and emails are being looked at, which turns out it's not the case. My missus had experience recently, $450AUD down the drain because paypal basically lied to her about how the claim was proceeding. When you call them on the phone, you get a grumpy American mole who won't help either.
So in conclusion, Paypal is an excellent tool, but buyer/user beware.
I have had no problems with Paypal. I have it linked to its own savings account which is normally empty but which I top up prior to each transaction.

Just started useing it this last couple of weeks Like a lot of things I found it a bit of a problem getting use to how their system works, and took about 5 calls to them to get it all to come togeather as mainly a seller. I dont like the time it takes for transaction to go through but like anything the more you use it the easyer it gets Friends of mine have a shop that sells a lot through Ebay and they dont have any problems except transaction timeing which take up to 7-14 days too long.

I once ordered some fishing gear from a store (Sportsmans Edge, Texas) in the U.S. and paid using Paypal. The items that I received were nowhere near what I had ordered. I took my dispute to Paypal as the seller had only replied to my first email and would not reply to any further emails. Paypal bowed out of the dispute because I had received "an item" irrespective of the fact that the goods supplied were not what was ordered. It seems that in Paypals eyes you can order the crown jewels and if the seller sends you a second hand toothbrush instead, that's good enough !!!.
Cheers,
Anthony.
