You never mentioned that you were from Wales!

    To whom it may concern

Rather than being embarrassed about spelling (which I suspect those who have appalling spelling either don't care or don't have any insight of the matter) one could take the time to have a dictionary at hand and use it. Then next time you want to write a card or greeting the recipient won't be put off by the garbled text.

It is never too late to improve one's self!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Some of the punctuation hasn't improved much either.

I don't know what all the fuss is about.

Just get a skill in life that people need more than spelling and then they leave your spelling alone. (usually)

Quite right. We should all stick to what we do best. You work on the mechanicing and I'll work on the spelling, punctuation and grammar.

You should be proud of the effort you have made and what you have achieved.

It does make you wonder though about some of those other people who just throw up their hands and say, "I'm not a good speller and I never will be, so I'm not even going to try."
I too can relate to George130's story. but rather than critizise thouse you you regard as just thoughing up there hands who unbeknowen to you may have exspended a lot of effort just to get there post to a point of semmi legable. Thouse who seem to have retained the misteriouse and unfatherable ablity to spell correctly. ussally have no idea of this and in a few menbers cases will go on the offencive. i personly know of 2 members who do not post, both of who have a welth of landie information as well as imaculate and well sorted vehicals who just do not post becouse some other member has decided to have a bit of a dig at there spelling. there rear and infrequent posts are actaly done by there partners.

as for spellcheckers, thay are good but thay will not tell you if you are using the wrong word or if the sentance writen is not exspersing the message in the head.

but then this post is realy a wast of time. thouse who can write and spell well will always look down there noses at thouse who cant. didnt attend school! or didnt learn any thing at school or just lazy, and therefore fair game and open to ridicule. some thing we see on this site from time to time

It suppose it is possible that some people look down their noses at people who have difficulties with some tasks. It just is not true that all "those who can write and spell well will always look down their noses at those who can't". I certainly don't.

I have worked often enough with children and adults who struggle with the English language to know just how difficult some people find it. Anyone who believes I am ridiculing someone because of their spelling, punctuation or grammar is seriously misinterpreting my intentions.

I know that there are some people who try hard and still have problems. I know that there are some people who don't even try. I also know that it is not always possible to tell which is which.

I try hard not to be offended by people who unjustly accuse me of ridiculing others. I trust that most people will not take offence whenever spelling is mentioned. Fortunately most people do seem prepared to take the comments in the light hearted manner in which they were intended.
