Thread: Pommie mate in Aussie Safari

Well surprised to read in the paper yesterday that an old mate Paul is coming over to do the Aussie safari. He will be racing his warrior, which is made by rally raid. Like a bowler (d2 underneth well axles) but most of them run the BMW diesel I drove his old one and jee they go some. I drove it though the new forest and it went like stick. My brother bought his old freelander racer off him a while back now. He did his first dakar in it .



One of my brothers claim to fame is to have talked mark and paul round into fitting a freelander front end to the warrior as they are pretty much unbreakable. Ideal for nose diving into sand



Wonder what his wife is getting this year for his trip here.
First time he did the dakar his wife saqid he could do it but she wanted a new jag. She wanted a pillar box red one . He went into the dealership and they said that they did not do a pillar box red one. So he told here that she could only have a off red one. At which point she replied, do you really want to go and do the dakar. well i can say is that he got a new jag and got it resprayed in the coulour she wanted
QWent and saw him at his house in the new forest the middle of the next year . And there was soem building going on at the back of his house. We said to him what is going on now. He relied OOHhh that is this year dakar fee, a new pool and gym

So land rover truck ( well they still come under land rover banner) might have a chance of winning it this year

Although say 155k plus i have drive pauls old one at 120mph (knocking on the door of 200K's) so i know they go faster than that

My brother bought a truck in the uk with the soul purpose to do this rally in it when he moves over here in a year or so. He will be talking to paul green with great interest when he gets back from it
