I've spent time in race cars before so I like to go fast on a track, but I've never done it off road. Is there a big difference ?

Oh - and watch out for those trees mate - they will spring out in front of you even faster in high range

I did the safari last year and have been offroad racing for about 5 years

The adventure tour does follow the race as such so you will see some of the action

Will you get to do some of the course? maybe but Id check with the organisers

In regards to experiencing the safari as a potential competitor Id look at trying to do some support for one of the cars. You will then see some of the action and you will get to see first hand the preparation and hours (many 100s) that go into putting a car and team together that works. We are literally living the preparation now right up to August!!

I would definately shake the car down in other events before doing the safari. Better to break you untested car in a local event that costs $200 to enter than blow you $6000 entry fee in the safari in the first day!

I do multiple events every year testing and making refinements to the car which all helped it finish last year

One of the major differences in off road is there are no pits every 35seconds,
You could spend the whole day being self reliant,, food, water, parts, tyres, ETC!
And yes, obviously there are certain differences driving around Bathurst as to the Finke,,,

But,, eye hand co-ordination is everything,, a bit of common sense, a mind that can think of more than lap times,,

I may be some of the checkpoints in the perth metro area again . I did it last year with the lrocwa was real close to the action and had a good day as well.

PM sent DiscoKid, yep I agree I think doing some kind of support for a team would give me a better idea of what it's really like.

Were you doing some marshalling at the check points Brad or just hanging around for the view ? Would be interested to see how to get involved even if I don't find anyone to help out this year
