    TD5 Engine Saver

    Hi People.
Good news for you TD5 owners.Ive just trialed a new sensor from Engine Saver specifically for the TD5,no hose cutting required. Now available from Engine Savers Website Low Water Alarm Sensor
It involves replacing the plastic bleed screw with a brass copy that is the sensor.
Contact David Jones thru his website.

Yup, I have one of those too.

I was keen for a low water alarm but reluctant to cause possible weak spots by cutting the hoses.

Actually (having had a look at the site) the fitting looks a bit different so probably another brand. It was actually fitted accidentally (see PM).

Hi Nobby - I don't think the plastic plug (bleeder screw) is a weak point, but I understand that the fitment of the sensor there is to not create new weak points by cutting hoses etc. Check the link for the fitting instructions to see if you're up to the task of a DIY.

Andy im assuming from the dirty engine bay the pics are yours? oh and the beer tops nearby

so.. is it a temp sensor or a water detector? a temp sensor will still detect steam wont it? if its a water sensor then i guess it makes more sense like a float switch.

love to know a bit more...

    Thanks

    Steve

Wash your mouth out Steve,I de-greased it before doing the fit up,its the cleanest its been for a long time!!!! Yes they are my pics, not my stubbie lid,it was left behind by a coopers pale ale drinking workmate.
It isnt a temp sender, needs coolant to keep it quiet.I drained some to check and it screamed, when its quiet therefore detecting coolant and you disconect the terminal it screams.
Nobby/Ricey yes that bleed screw is regarded as a weak point. Its easily damaged and if you want a replacement its the whole top hose assembly, over $100 from a specilist, cant imagine genuine price!!!
The brass sender is an exact replica, perfect in every way,it blew me away!!!!
