a castrol rep once told me the castrol lpg oil was no different to normal oil.....just in a different container

this was around 1995/96 when we were doing a lot of work with castrol refrigeration oils.

    maybe things have since changed

    cheers

I use mobil synthetic and get it from the local mobil supplied petrol station. It is about $30 cheaper than at Repco for 5 ltrs.

I called Castrol and asked them where to get 20L of RX Super and they said any Autobarn, Repco etc. I called my closest Autobarn and they don't even stock RX Super. Said they had Penrite in 10L but that was it.
The cheapest place I have found to get RX Super in Brissie is QLD diesel spares.

I have never experienced a problem with the quality of castrol diesel oil.

I run Mobil Delvac 1 in the Disco - bought it from Repco in Kalgoorlie (at an exorbitant cost). Next time - will buy the same but Caterpillar labelled in 20 litre drum from Westrac.

My son runs nothing but Penrite in his RX7.

For the wife's car, and many others in the past, have always used Castrol oils with never a problem.
    Cheers .........

I don't mind saving $20 where i can .
Mate, It may be packed by Mobil but it is made to Repco specifications. The important thing is to check and make sure the specifications comply with what the manufacturer calls for. The "generic" brands usually have a lower additive package than the recognised main stream brands - hence the cheaper price tag. It comes back to the old addage - you get what you pay for.

ONLY because the RX wouldnt last 5000kays,

The Brumby we own has been run exclusively on GTX since new,, thats 20 years,, and not about to change,,
have run the new disco on HPR10 since purchase,,
dont know what was used before,, does that count as a change?

I rang Supercheap and asked them if they stocked RX Super or anything in 10 or 20L containers and they said no only 5L.
Well I went to Supercheap today on the way home (same store) just to have a look. On the shelf were various Penrite in 10L and RX Super in 20L What a crap salesman he was!

I ended up buying 2 5L Magnatec as it was on special for $24ea.

There is now a Magnatec Diesel 15w-40 in 10L drums.
