WORK WANTED
Hi all,
My daughters boyfriend has just come over from the UK. he is on a working visa and is after work. He is a plumber by trade, but is willing to do any kind of work while he is here. He is very reliable and not the sort of guy to shy away from what he is meant to be doing.(take the ****).
If anyone knows of anything please let me know.
We are in the northern suburbs.
Thanks Rich

Employment Opportunities
If he can drive a truck, there are plenty of opportunities in the thread titled 'Employment Opportunities'.

Work wanted.
Hi Richard.
He may be a well qualified plumber in the UK but I don't think that counts for much over here.
Irrespective of how much experience he has, he'll probably have to do a 10 days course with other aspiring plumbers to get his "Tradesmans Rights" certificate or some such thing, before being allowed to fix leaking taps.
My indentures as a fitter (5 year apprenticeship then) meant absolutely nothing in WA, nor a letter from the union, nor references from companies I'd worked for, I still had to prove to a panel of "experts" (union bums and bureaucraps) that I was capable of doing up nuts and bolts.
He may get work via labour hire people of which there are hundreds and although it may not be plumbing, at least dollars will be coming in and he can afford to buy you a few beers every now and again!
Cheers.
Alan.
