Series 1 Disco Airbags
Hi All
My son borrowed the Disco last night and a friend of his spat the dummy and thumped the dash, right on the passenger side airbag cover.
It actually split the cover.
Is this a separate item.
Can you remove easily and just replace the cover and mount the airbag to it, or is a complete unit.
Thanks
Steve

Given that the latest D1s are now 10 years old, check the first page of your maintenance handbook in the owners folder. It'll have the date they ought to be inspected/replaced as necessary handwritten in.
I believe the 'cover' is actually part of the airbag unit.

The cover is part of the airbag & the split will be along the weak section that is designed to open up when it's deployed.
The 10 year rule has been revised to 15. It's anticipated that this will be extended to 20 years soon.

And generally no - the plastic cover of the airbag is plastic welded to the metal frame. Land vehicle spares at Silverdale (Warragamba Dam) have a few here and there, and 2nd hand they aren't too expensive. Taking it apart is a difficult and dangerous affair.
