I use to have a Triumph Dolomite Sprint with the 4spd overdrive unit.Do you know if they are the same as that? It was great fun to use but you just need to check the connections every now and then. Also if your oil level is low it will not work.To check if it is working put the ignition on and flick the overdrive. You should be able to hear a clicking sound.

Also forgot to mention that if it is an over drive unit there will be a switch on top of the gear knob which says in and out.And when you check to see if the solenoid is engaging put it in 3rd or 4th gear.Hope this helps.

Josh, I have found the 1970s Sunbeam Alpine workshop manual with the O/D info if you still need me to scan it. Regrettably, it's only a Haynes manual. I think I have a genuine Rootes manual with the O/D info but it would be for a mid-Fifties Sunbeam Alpine.

Should be the same o/d as the triumph 2000 and 2500 sedans also same as the M11 Jaguar, TR sports cars and whatever else was a bit sporty from the same era. Operated by a lever on steering column or sliding switch on top of gear lever. Very probably if you hav'nt got a switch you hav'nt got an o/d unit
