Thread: well its been a month and ....

i have only just used 1/2 a tank of diesel

im one of the fortunate people that live close enough and work close enough to the train station that i can realistically use it.. 1 have a 1k walk at either end, which helps my health, and due to the great nature of the perth train system i save money too!

eg in traffic im likely to see 11l/100ks
each one way trip is 33k's

so nominally i get 3 trips per 100k's which uses 3.667litres per trip

cost per trip @ $1.85l = $6.78

cost on train $3.68 saving $3.10 per journey or $6.20 per day!

saving for an average month of 20 days = $124

saving per year = $1612

Times

Driving 35 - 40 minutes (on a day with no delays)

Train - 20 minutes walking total and 25 minutes in the train = 45 minutes.

(all figures are approx!)

so does this mean my landrover is more environmentally than the average Prius?

does this mean that all my farts are carbon neutral now?

nope it just means i have a less stressfull journey in, a bit of exercise and a bit extra cash in my pocket.. but a slightly longer journey in. I'm happy!
