BTW the Red Earth is the only place to get a beer, at least if you like your teeth the way they are. And you arnt keen on having a drink with the 'locals'. Remember 'theres nothing like the smell of lead and sulphur in the air'

Does Marshall Boyd's still have the back room where the original inhabitants drank? The one where the tables and chairs were screwed to the floor to prevent their use as weapons.

Alas Boydies is gone. It was transformed from a classic 'thrown through the front window' pub to the upmarket lounge bar Red Earth. If your a fan of heavy drinking and nudity there is always the wreck club. For select clientèle only

What about the Finns? Drink beer glasses of neat vodka or Bacardi. Settle disputes with puukos, a large knife.

Aah, the aroma of lead bullets and sulphur gunpowder. The Balmoral public bar on a Friday night. Uncle Ho, remember the dear old Bal? And the Ships Painters and Dockers who drank there, or a number of other pubs around Australia? The Vaucluse and Swan in Richmond, the Bells and the Macquarie (Rockers) and the Montgomery & Welcome Inn in Sydney, Boydies in the Isa, the Winton in Winton, the Royal in Longreach, the Boggabilla, and assorted other much loved blood houses.
