my best mate![]()
the family that looked after the two border collies for the irish bird went on to look after two newfoundlands while their owner was travelling Australia ofr 8 months.
when the two newfy's went back, they went out and bought one for themselves.
we also have one around here that leaves your dogs in their own home and someone comes around each day and walks and feeds them. but they also bring in the mail and put out/bring in your garbage (whether it needs it or not) to give the impression there is someone at home.
dogs are a lot happier this way.
to quote a song by the Fauves "dogs are the best people"
LAND ROVER;HELPING PUT OIL BACK IN THE GROUND FOR 70 YEARSCARS DON'T GET ANY "GREENER" THAT.

C'mon, you know it was all done when you went "just for a look"! You just can't not get a dog when you do that, can you? Good on you for "getting back on the horse" after what happened. You always miss the dogs you had but then always enjoy the ones you've got, too.I still miss both Benz and Diesel, even getting misty now, their pics are adorn our fridge and their collars hang on a shepherd statue. In Max their spirits live on as their bloodlines are intertwined and am glad I changed my mind and let him into our lives as he is a beautfully natured dog and the kids adore him...............and of course myself ,
Regards
Stevo
I never, ever go to a pet shop or pound or anywhere a dog needs a home because we've already got two we rescued, and I know that if I'm anywhere near another needy dog then I won't be able to help myself, and then we'll have three - or four - or . . . well, you get the picture.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
Your right...bit hard when you are confronted with thisQuote:

This is Bailey, my mum's woofy. He was bought as family dog but who are we kidding? Puppy loves his mummy!
He's a great pup - well tempered and friendly. A real chick magnet too! I bought him with me when I went to visit a girl I was trying to pick up, and 18 months later we live together...
He lives up at the farm so I don't see him all that often, but he usually comes up to the piggery and sits with me in the freezing cold while I work on 'Gus. Sometimes he even helps by woofing and scratching at the factory fitted Land Rover Spiders!

Argh, even though I had read that somewhere else before a while ago it gets me every time and has me well and trully welling up......
This is our Bailey - 7yr old Staffy/Mastiff cross......
Got her last year from the RSPCA rescue shelter not long after we emigrated out here and she has well and trully become part of the family and I really don't see how anyone could ever have given her up....
Ok she smells of damp carpet, has had a few issues with losing her housetraining, is a complete antisocial git with other dogs and has a pathological fixation with hunting possums. She is however also one of the most affectionate creatures i have ever encountered and seems to be genuinely greatful that she now has a great life again after being abandoned. Not all that sure how many stinky middle aged mongrels get a second chance from the shelters or if most people go for purebred puppies but i'd go for another rescue dog every single time.
Even through the less great times of walking her when it's freezing cold and pouring with rain in the mornings and cleaning up after her when she was messing in the house I still could never bring myself to send her off.
Well and trully a firm believer that once you take on the responsibility of a dog it's just that - your responsibility for the rest of its/your life.
Ok, i now want to go home and get one of those patented return home welcomes that only dogs can give!
Here's our pup - Cookie.
He loves camping as much as we do... and somehow manages to SLEEP in the backseat (in his bed) while four wheel driving
Can't believe he's 7yo already, time flys. Still carries on like a pup though... and we love it![]()
