So long as insurance can deem the modified wheels as partial cause to the accident

Nope.. Car doesnt out of spec means instant cancellation of insurance.
This can be as simple as a larger than allowable lift, bigger tyres or other "engineer only" mods that havent been approved.

In the case of vehicular manslaughter, yes, you may be able to show evidence it didnt cause the incident.

Great example - bald tyres. 50% of cars on the road seem to have at least one tyre that is bald, eg perhaps a scrubbed out shoulder on one of the front tyres. If you have an accident on a wet windy road where you lose traction and slide off the road on bald tyres, your claim could be history. If you fail to check your mirrors and sideswipe another vehicle, however, the condition of your tyres is not likely to have contributed to the accident and it is unlikely that they would try to reject the claim (as the Insurance Ombudsman under appeal would likely make them pay it, with additional costs for the appeal process as well).
    Quickest thing I could find

My argumement doesn't come from the interweb mind you

Rovercare, your right Mate I will have to decline at that price.
Being out of the way is the way I like it, eh.

I wouldn't worry about the insurance concerns on the outback trips
because the modified wheels would not be going on untill I reached the
    edge of the desert.

The only time I would make a claim on this Disco, would be if it was burnt out. Other than that, I would try to rebuild it, even if I had to buy another one to use for major parts swap.
    I love my Disco.

    Thanks anyway Mate.

See how you go, I may well be able to seperate the tyres and send the rims alone, as I've initially quoted for a pallet, but I don't think you'll be getting out of it for less than $400 at best
