Oil leaks are part and parcel of Land Rover ownership. The way I look at it if it's not leaking, it's empty :D
My Rangie has a couple here and there but nothing to get too woried about and I park it on the grass so there's no pools of oil that will stain the driveway.
I do all my own mechanical work, I had a gutful of getting screwed by mechanics who are totally inept in doing the job properly or charge like wounded bulls. Plus it's a great way of being aware of how your LR operates and over time you feel at ease if you do have a roadside breakdown and the knowhow to get it going again.

Oil leaks and Land Rovers justy appear to go together for so many LR owners. It is the only make that I have been involved with that the owners just accept that oil leaks are a part of the make. Why?
Other makes do not have such reputations. Is it because they are not used in the same way? Is it because the designs are better when it comes to keeping the oil in? Or is it poor manufacturing?
Maybe it is that LRs are surperior and more tolerant to oil leak problems, other makes perhaps don't leak but when they do it is due to major problems unlike LRs that just keep going.

What other car have you owned where you could feed it with fish and chip oil? Bad luck mate, it appeared that you had got yourself sorted once you got over the gearbox problems but not to be.

I'm sure the Commodore will serve you well (I drive a Fairmont daily and I love Monty as much as old 'Gus)
As others have said, I hope you stick around here regardless. Depending on your interests, maybe you should get an old Series and do it up? Sure it will leak oil like, well, like a Discovery - but at least you will probably be able to fix (or learn how to fix) it yourself. A lot of joy to be had spinning spanners and chasing spiders!

I had a 1975 351ci Fairlane, biggest piece of crap, drank fuel by the gallon, broke down, chewed up engines, I spent most of the time walking back and in tow trucks than driving it. But it was the most gorgeous car on the road.
I sold it and got a Mazda3 because it was a reliable car.

Three years later I woke up out of my sensible stage and got a D1 V8 :D
Park the Disco up, you've got another car so your in no rush to fix it and when your missing the Disco get underneath it to remind yourself why you drive the Commodore. Then eventually you will forget all the trouble and have a go at fixing it yourself.
