Anyone with experience of importing UK vehicles into NZ?

    G'day Guys,

Asking this question for Gavin, he is currently travelling in Australia and heading to NZ soon and hopes to import his D110 Camel Trophy vehicle into NZ.

See Camel Riders for his details.

See you are enjoying your trip.

Member "NZHereIam" on forum RRSport.co.uk recently imported a UK tdV6 Range Rover Sport into NZ. He could be reached through a PM on that forum.
    More information is here:

Yep... I did it & mine was a Camel too.

The first question is: Is it a temporary or permanent import??

Get him to PM me & I can fill him in with detail (basically, it's very similar to getting it into Oz). Mind you, if it's permanent, there's a few things he needs to be aware of.

You can temporarly inport a vehicle into NZ, cant remember whi it was another guy on a uk forum did it, it will run on the english plate for the temp import period, but i think that can only be a year then it has to leave or be permantly imported.

To permantly import a vehicle in to nz, you have to have owned it for a year and been living outside NZ for 21 months yourself, failing that you have to pay NZ gst on the value of the vehicle you also wont be able to sell the vehicle for one year after import if you fall into the dont have to pay NZ gst on it.

A bit vague i know, but all the info i have, i will be shipping a vehicle to NZ next year but havnt got as far as looking into it...

Also, customs will insist you have the vehicle cleanned by DOC even if it is sparkling, NZ is very strict on keeping out side bugs outside NZ....

Thanks all. Our entry to Australia has hopefully prepared us well for what lies ahead in NZ. Feels a bit like we are feeding ourselves to the lions, again!

Ashley has been a great help thanks Mark. I also tried your LR contact but had no reply so far. Thanks again.

    Gavin
