thanks for all your help. at the moment im am just collecting resources and information before i can start of the fergy. main reason being my Defender is a bit sickand as priorities go it is ahead by a mile

haha feelin pretty proud of myself just worked out how to post up the full size pictures
i think it may have been grey originally
i did have a look for the number but didnt get a chance to write it down. talked to dad he said when we put the new starter motor on it had 1951 on it so could be that old.
these are them.
and yes that is a series III sitting next to it. there is another series III beside that and a series II beside that. there is also a leyland 245 sitting in the barn

There is now no doubt, it is a 1951 TEA 20 "Grey" fergie which is missing quite a few bits.
By the way that bracket on the RH guard is an original plowing light bracket so dont get rid of that.
Tool box is also ridgy didge id be thinking, it's in the right spot.
Radiator, you can get an after market one for about $160 from Yarra valley ag.
Foot treads are a must
Park brake catch is a must
Would look much nicer with a grill and some paint, if you find someone who has grills (and a bonnet) please let me know, ours is stuffed as well.
It is still 6v by the look of the gen but again I could be wrong as there are 12v ones that are about the same size.
Nice to see the crank handle in place, Be careful if you ever decide to try it as the can kick pretty bad.
