best place to start would be BareCo - Tractor Parts and Catalogue
Gday
Sorry this has nothing to do with Landrovers wot so ever. But seeing as i have nowhere else to turn to im just interested to know if anyone knows anythin about them on here.
for my last birthday my dad gave me a very old fergy 28 (petrol) that has had the head gasket go and also has a fair bit of rust. now i dont know the particular year of the tractor so i was just wondering where i would start in identifying this tractor?
if there is a plate somewhere, where would it be? or any numbers?
i live in town with mum but next time i get a chance to go out to dads farm ill take some pics of it and post them up
Thanks for ur advice and help
Jock

First thing is, the colour, Grey or red.
Next, on the steering colum there should be an oval shaped disc with a model number stamped on it.
It it's a 4cyl petrol then it should be a Vanguard engine and parts are readilly available.
Ferguson 28 doesnt ring any bells for me but Im no fergie expert but ive played with a few.
TEA20 is the old grey and TEA35 is the red then after that I havnt had much to do with until the 135 and 20b MF series.
Is it Massey Ferg or just Ferg is another thing that would help and so would a photo.
memory is VERY hazy on this, but IIRC the 28 was just a higher horsepower version of the TE20, for all intents and purposes the same tractor, just a bigger engine bore
Just did a bit of a search through my fergie stuff on this computer and Ive got nothing on a fergie or massey fergie 28.
Not saying that its wrong, just that I cant find any factory info on it.
There isnt even a workshop manual on that site you posted for a 28, only 20 and MF35 so maybe a dealer upgrade or something which was common after factory like some of the engine conversions etc.
TEA grey fergie what a gem , the alloy bonnets were made from scrap spitfire,s planes thats what i knowand a little more

Yeah we have one sitting up at the farm, my Grandfather bought it brand new and it has never been out of the family and the furthest it has gone from the farm was to Mansfield for some maintenance when I was a kid for a rewire and carbi rebuild as well as some work on the 3pl from memory.
It's sitting on blocks at the moment and I will one day get around to restoring it and the implements we have for it.
G`day Jock ,
Is it 12 volt or 6 volt ?
Serial Number 172598 is the last of the smaller engined ones . ( 23.9 belt hp , 112.9 cu ins = Small , 28.2 belt hp , 127.4 cu ins = Large )
TE-A20 serial 249345 is ours 1952 , still has orig 19" frt wheels and put a battery in or crank and it goes when asked .
Have the original owners stuff for ours but did look for the id plate at one time .
There`s a place in Frankston that can supply almost anything you may require , i`ll find there contact for you as well as the id plate local on ours .
Cheers
Peter
