    Hidden vehicular "features"

I discovered today its possible to put the single window trip computer in a VY Commodore into "diagnostic" mode by pressing a particular button combo whilst turning the ignition on. There are some interesting things hidden there - a digital speedo and tach, instantaneous fuel consumption in l/h and l/100km (punched it in 2nd and got 99.9 l/100km before it went blank) , voltage, coolant temperature (shows huge variations that the gauge doesn't), and the ability to read all the fault codes, clear them, clear service reminders etc. I was going to buy a scangauge to get all this info but it does it all by default.

Do you reckon it would be possible to develop software and/or an interface into the stock LR trip computers to clear common faults and access ECU info without needing other diagnostics? Could prove very nifty/bloody handy

    That is pretty cool.

As for the Land Rover side of things. The Disco1 V8 can do some of it.
You can get the factory code reader (factory fitted in the USA) which will tell you the codes.
You clear codes by switching the ignition off or pulling the ECU fuse for an everything reset.
You look at the fuel gauge for an instantaneous fuel usage. It moves faster the harder you drive it
The temp guage has its own sensor so is not controlled by computer so it reads as per real engine temp.

    Yours is more interesting though.
