A general warning for the unwary

    G'day All

I swappped out my cactus OEM 60 amp alternator with a new one yesterday and apart from the usual crap about swapping pullies and getting out siezed bolts (Cad plating into Ali can be such a P i t A) It was all relatively uneventfull,

    Until

I went to put the belt back on. I had a mate assisting and we had re routed the belt so that while I held the tensioner he put the belt back around the alternator pully. All good but he had to have a couple of goes at it as he's like me and suffers from ducks disease. In the process of letting the ring spanner on the end of the tensioner go I got my finger stuck between the fan cowling and the ringy as the spanner slipped out of my now very sweaty hand. Mightn't sound like much but I can assure you it brought tears to my eyes.

Moral of the story, keep your bits out of the way of spring loaded thingies. They will do u some severe damage.

    That would've hurt!!!

I often say to people who talk about ducks a lot and crack lots of SHORT jokes, that the vertically challenged among us have more highly developed brains, due to the oxygen levels being far more concentrated when closer to sea level...

    New alternator

    Guys,

Swapped the pullies over, as Justin advised u just have to make sure that the 3 -4 mm spacer stays on the shaft so as to keep the pulley of the front bearing.

    Apart from that all good.
