The idea was to put some gear in the 110 and ship it back with the car.

Im not entirely sure I'll be ending up in Sydney (at least not with the 110 as well) and so was looking at options earlier on in the trip.

Curret Aus prices for ARB lockers (AU$1219) seem very comparable to UK prices though, so not going to save much

Jon only you can work out if it is worth buying Down Under rather than where you live but it will be cheaper by far to buy in either Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide (don't know about Perth and I'm not sure you're headed there) than to buy in Cairns, Alice Springs or Darwin.

I understand that ARB prices should be the same - its just what freight they may charge you. Hence, you don't have to go to Sydney but just buy from the closest outlet to the major capitals that you find yourself visiting.

Whatever you do have a great trip. While hot and humid the storms in Darwin in Nov are spectacular

G'day Jon, I have just returned from over there. In Winchester. The pound will get you $2.15ish. Still save a bucket as you will want to clear out ARB.

If you know the model you want, PM JustinC.

He had a customer who needed to sell his ARB locker (an RD57 I believe). I would have bought it but it won't fit my P38A. It may still be available.

Different ARB dealers will give different prices, and do give discounts ( eg at 4WD shows or to 4WD clubs)
so it is worth ringing around.
Don't assume just because it's got an ARB label on it it's the best available. ( I found out it's not )

I have used ARB with no problems, better service than a place that starts with t. for my snorkel it was cheaper than the Sydney price and they said it was due to their lower overheads.
The only disadvantage is they will have to order the part up from south then trying to fit you in, if you want to use them then you might have to talk to them before you arrive in Darwin.

Like Waynep said, talk to a few stores as they will discount if you ask.

As far as service goes, my local ARB Ive had some issues with one of the now apparently X staff members trying to tell me furphys about my Landrover as well as just being difficult to deal with so I have found my local TJM to be much easier to deal with and much more knolagable but that changes from store to store but in the main I think most people in both are pretty good.

I dont deal much with either though as im in Melbourne I have easier access to their suppliers (e.g. Noble and sons for the Strops, snatch straps, drag chains and tree trunk protectors) where you can normally get stuff heaps cheaper than if it has ARB written on it.
