    Help! Nissan with something missing

Another off beat question, Nissan GQ Patrol late 88 diesel. Alternator deceased, was putting out 19 volts, fixed that problem, now the tach & speedo aren't working.

From the wiring diagram all I can see between the alternator and gauges are a speed sensor & engine revolution sensor. What's the likelihood of blowing these 2 units when the alternator had its hissing fit. We know the speed sensor is on the back of the gearbox, but where the hell is the engine revolution sensor?

Help please, need to get this Jap piece of crap off my British only parking ground.

    Thanks very much.

(Langy where are you when I need you!)

On older 4-door Rangies and on the D1, the tacho is a feed from one phase of the alternator, i.e., the W terminal on the tacho.

    Is the Patrol the same?

    Hi Ron

mate have no idea, but we put a new Alt on, so all that should be fine

I think something else has blown because the Alt went but what and where is it are the question, I know nothing about Jap stuff at all, now if it was a Mog, Mack, Scania, Volvo, or Cummings we'd be OK....

I think the oily rag an match trick will work well

Any spare wires hanging around the alternator? The W terminal is common Euro vehicles.

Thanks guys, we think we have isolated the problem to the speedo an tacho gauges they are geting and converting a signal but not working so next step Monday try 2 known gauges and see if they work

    Thanks Langy
