Summer? What sort of bodily abuse do people want? Sure there will not be many people around and for good reason. How uncomfortable for all involved going into the desert or for that matter just driving there. Apart from this there is a good chance of storms and then what, do they drive all the tracks and local roads to ruin them only to have someone else complete the repairs? Morons!!
hey, you get a picnic shelter Birdsville side of Big Red and some wheelie bins that havent been emptied for some months and are overflowing into the desert that you are being asked to pay about $100 to help maintain, what better value could you want??:(:(;)
Well they close most of the walk at Ayres rock and the olgas when the temp is above 36C. I was there.
There is a good reason to go in summer,no one else is there!!.We went through in Nov and we only saw a couple in the then new td5 defender and a couple in a duel cab rodeo. It was a peacefull 5 days until big red and a crowd of 20 vehiles racing up and down like fools.Later at birdsville we meet a group of tag-a-longs and there was 18 vehicles going over together. It is the damage they cause that is the problem.
