I also have an 60s/70s? Traeger with a portable telescopic antenna suitable for a collector. has genuine texta writing on the case like Halls Creek base call sign, etc.
What would it worth to someone into that sort of stuff
Hi all,
This may be better suited to radio gear but its not run of the mill stuff.
A recent clean out of our base has turned up a number of new valves suited to early HF (1950s-60-70s) Codan radios.
They have been saved from the scrap heap and have to be worth something at least to a collector or hobbyist.
A couple of early portable Traeger HF radios have also been re discovered in their metal boxes Circa 1951. I am not sure yet where the Traeger's will go either display or possible sale.
I can get exact part numbers for anyone interested.
Id also appreciate any contacts if you know anyone.
Now if Ive posted in the wrong place ...Sorry
Cheers
Mark

Speaking of Traegers, does anybody have schematics for the SSB 50 or SSB 100 ?
I have been given one of each and they both have problems. I want to get them back to functional but all I see is a sea of spaghetti and I really don't want to reverse engineer the circuit.
Both sets have no sensitivity on any channel. The 50 is making Tx power that varies with program. Not sure about the 100 because my bench PS does not have enough grunt to drive it in Tx.
id be interested in one of these for me and my s1...pm me please if they do become available
--even if doesnt operate it would be good especially for a display in our national trust that Im thinking of... older landy, old fencing tools etc, traps etcetc... sort of a boundry rider/trapper/fencer display...
cheers

If no AuLRO individual is interested then I'm sure that Ian O'Toole (VK2ZIO) from the Kurrajong Radio Museum Kurrajong Radio Museum, Sydney - military and commercial would most probably be interested.
I've met Ian, but our Black Bill is a good mate of his.
The museum is very active and they have a great collection of radio equipment, much of it fully operational.

actually my post wasnt clear sorry, because of the way the nat. trust is set up here, we have people bring stuff in for us to use on a display (eg the landy) and it is not property of the national trust, but used to help with the display...
Id like it to go with my '56 s1 so that I could look at getting it going later if possible and use it for display....

I did note that you expressed interest in ONE of the radios for your series 1, what I meant to say is that if other AuLRO members are not interested in what's remaining, then Ian would most probably be interested.
The priority being that AuLRO members get first bidding.

As a side note, many many years ago, I used to work for Tracker Communications, which is the company that Alf Treager started many moons beforehand.
We built the HF radios for the RFDS, and whenever we got one back for repair, there was usually a good story to go with it. Like the mail plane couldn't land on the strip, so just pushed the boxes out the door....![]()
He wasn't to know that there was a couple of grands worth of radios inside...
And, IIRC, Alf was the man that invented the pedal generator to power the original Scout 50, and the Scout 100...

Will do. The base/ cafe museum is undergoing a refurbishment, so lots of gear in storage.
I ll get some pics soon for you.
I would also be interested in one for the 80 inch.
