Sounds like the tyres are rubbing on the front suspension arms. There are adjustable bolts on the swivel housings to limit how far the steering turns the wheels (lock stops).
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had experienced the following problems on their Disco, I recently bought a 1998 SE7 TDI, everthing is fine with the car except when I have full lock on the front wheels seem to bounce and and the tyres screech, is this a common thing on these cars?? if not does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this (it happens more when turning right than left).
Oh I almost forgot, there is also a small intermittent issue with the rear electric windows sometimes they work and sometimes they don't, could it be the control unit causing this??
Thanks in advance for any help and advice with this.
Pete.

I had the same problem with the back windows and it turned out to be a cracked soldiring joint on the ECU. If you remove the glove box and pull out the ECU you should be able to spot the cracked joint. I was able to fix it by just touching up the joint. It is a common problem and seems to be one joint in particular, there is another website that has a fix on it (I can't remember where at the moment but I'll have a look for you and repost).

If you go to the following website discoweb.org -- and then under tech and then rear electric window you will find a how to on fixing the window fault.
