I take it that you dont miss Blue Hills Then ?

My gripe about the commercial channels is the type of programs shown.
Its nearly all american ( shoot em up bang bang, ten foot tall americans
with funny marine sic, hair cuts ). Or a copy of this low brow slop using Australian accents.
On Australian TV, the sillier a program is and able to be more understood by the masses, the more it rates, which is what counts.
As for these game shows, dont start me. A while back they were showing
shorts for a thing called, gladiator. My Gawd, who in their right mind
would willingly allow their brain to be battered by such stuff.
I also saw the shorts of a thing called, underbelly. Who the hell cares about the goings on of some fat Victorian criminal type Oafs, who one
wouldn't normally give the time of day too. Their not hero's nor awe
inspiring people, to my mind. Not the least bit interesting.
Do I need to watch impossible car chases and prangs and lots of explosions to be entertained. Do I give a hoot about ratings.
If you look at the shows that rate the highest, you will find that most
are the simple, easily understood, comic book style, program using actors.
Dick Tracy, Batman stuff. Pulp fiction.

No, I prefer to be entertained by well written, well crafted, well directed.
well acted, programs, with BELIEVABLE PEOPLE.
This is why I prefer the ABC and SBS.
British and Foreign films that dont have creatures like sylvester stallone
and those other little american hero type dickheads.
I did like Arnie tho, because he hammed it up and it was all tongue in
cheek and nonsence and a bit of fun.

I am a fan of Miss Marple and Poirot,and find Amanda Redman very sexy.

Hey mate, Blue Hills?? Don't know that show. Horses for courses, I like many of the American shows, well acted, good scripting, in many cases intelligent drama...or just good escapism. Underbelly I thought was brilliant, one of the best made Australian shows as it was about a part of Australia, like it or not. End of the day as long as one enjoys what they watch, thats the main thing......like anything...don't like it....change the channel. Also can be an age thing, depends on what you have grown up with ie Miss Marple:confused:, Poirot:confused:...Amanda Redman:confused:. And if I was to say Denozo, Goren and Eames, Hank Moody, House, Sam and Dean, you'd be going :confused: as well :D. Thank god for choice,

Thank god for fishing in the Lake, Bushwalking, Soccer and horseriding.

TV is for them days when there is enough rain to make life unpleasant and not enough mud to put on the Simex's.

The trouble with those yank cop shows which seem to spawn like cane toads - CSI everywhere for example is that they are just a formula with dialouge thrown in. Seen one seen em all.

Good qulaity shows like The Man Show and Bloke's World - now that's television

Yes thank Gawd for choice.

I dont think its an age thing, as I didn,t watch the type of shows when I was younger that I dont watch now.
I would sit in front of the tv enthralled watching The Summer Science
School with Professor Harry Messel, rather than watch Homiside or Cop
Shop, which I disliked.
Denoso, now there you go. I will watch NCIS, once or twice a year for
my reality check.
Its a great send up of all the other rubbish. They ham it up and in the real
world of Policing would be unemployable.
Denoso is my favourite because he is so deliberately silly.

I went to the old Stadium and saw all the old artists like Bill Hayley, Nat
King Cole, Josephine Baker and the rest. We even came down from the back of Bourke to see the Beatles, cant remember where tho.
I would only buy classical music.
We have a wireless in the house somewhere, dunno if it works but.
The radio's in my cars have never been turned on. I do watch a couple
hours of various news programs each evening.
I watch all of the doco's to do with history and geography.
I liken my tv entertainment to books. I will always read Alexander
Solzhenitsyn but never Carter Brown.
My choice.

I think thats great if you have time of an afternoon to do all that. I'm still at work, even though I work from home and normally dont finish till 6.30/7 at night, so to be able to kick back, switch off and watch some tv works for me. Weekends is when we do all that kinda stuff.

Never got into the CSI's, I generally only watch Ch 10, I seem to hit their demographic perfectly :). Now the Man Show gotta love those trampolines :D.

Ah Ha, got me on one of them ;), the only thing I wish I did more was read books, I used to be a book worm as a kid and encourage my children to read as much as possible and get them to read some of my old faves like "Call of the Wild" by Jack London and an eternal favourite "Watership Down". Couldnt go hunting bunnies for sometime after reading that..........though it didnt last forever :angel:. Best knock from work soon, I can hear my plasma calling me :),

If you have the luxury of working from home, you could possibly make the time, have a lunch break when the kids get home. Besides all the money in the world wont bring back the years you miss out on playing with them. One has to make the time else you become one with the plasma. Sleep is overated, clear out a room for indoor soccer, mountains are there 24/7 and fish feed at night. I am far from healthy, but I am getting there and the healthier I get the happier myself and my kids get. I got rid of Foxtel for this reason, tele time is wasted time.

Not whilst at home I don't.

Besides where was I in between shifts Sat and Sunday? I could easily have been dossing at home.

Lets see 12hrs on friday 6-6 then Camden by 0930hrs watch horseys and meet you guys, leave at what time was it? Go to Bday party, leave there at 7pm drive to work arrive 945pm work till 6am drive stockton beach for a couple of hours play, back at work at 2pm leave at 10pm back home at 11pm and go to bed for 14hrs.
