A strop is probablly the corect name. With lifting and rescue slings or straps quite often you see them listed technically as strops. I would belive its a regional difference.
However in this case I would think its just a typo.
We shal see, maybe he has a Delvene as well as a Strop and a Hoges.

None of the above - I drive offroad every time I drive, and what I carry depends on where I am going and the conditions, so there is no simple answer, although the 2a always has a drag chain and shackles (usually used for dragging posts, straining fences etc) and frequently a chainsaw and shovel, although these are not primarily for recovery purposes.
The 110 carries a tow rope, mainly for pulling trees off the road, and after strong winds a, a bushman saw.
If I have to travel in boggy conditions I will usually carry a towing strop, rope, hand winch, and a shovel, occasionally one or two high lift jacks, depending on my assessment of conditions.
