Sorry to hear the troubles though. What a pain.
You can possibly expect a fight if it has had a reaosnable amount of mods done.
Hi all,
We finally got our new 08 Defender back from the aftermarket guys on Friday after they had it nearly 3 weeks (for various reasons) and today (Monday) it is heading back to the dealers to get fixed!
On Saturday night we drove up Greenmount Hill (nice and steep) on the Eastern side of Perth and got only a little way up when the car started surging in a regular kind of way, ie foot in same place on accelerator but car speeding up and slowing down on its own. Well I dropped off my other half and her workmates at the party they were attending and I headed back home. All was OK until about 1km from home and then the surging got really bad. After stalling itself several times (still doing about 20kmph) I managed to bunny hop my way into the driveway.
I called LR customer care and they sent out the RAC. He couldn't do anything except give me a voucher for a tow truck. Thanks heaps.....
Anyway it got towed to the dealers this morning and I am waiting for a call to let me know what's up. I am not happy about it but my partner is ready to dismember someone!
Our TD5 was trouble free for 8 years and is sitting happily in our driveway looking for a new home. Our new Defender on the other hand we have driven maybe four or five times, has only 160km on the clock total and it is on the back of a truck heading back to the dealers. Go figure.....

Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Sounds like the aftermarket guys left a hose off or disturbed something in the turbo lines.
Mine was doing this last night on re-assembly when I left the turbo outlet sense line off. Ran OK at idle with no load, but up the streeet it was pulsing.

Hi all,
My other half just got back to me and it's fixed. Turns out the fuel valve crapped itself and the dealer simply replaced it without any dramas.
Thank God for that, because if they gave my other half any crap and got her gander up they would have had to run for cover - and you just can't run that far! Ha Ha.
Can you post more details on the Fuel Valve. What, where etc?

Hi dm_td5,
That's all she told me on the phone but I will find out more when I go and pick it up this arvo.
Thanks, it sounds like it might be an essential spare for a long trip.

Hi dm_td5,
Decided to ring dealer as I will get there too late to talk to a service rep. Apparently it is like a restrictor that is external to the pump but in line with the it, if that makes any sense to you!
It's all double dutch to me until I pop the bonnet and have a look for myself.
