    one of the theoretical offshoots of what they might be able to learn from it is cold fusion.

    If they do you can bet Im going to be trying to jerry rig one out of old bits n pieces.

    Cheesing Rocks........but on a serious note early days yet until they crank it up...then what?? whats happens if it goes pair shape?? obviously all you can do is put your head between your legs etc......if youve got time that is.....cheers

    The huge cost is spread over 20 or so years and from many sources. One interview compared it to a single (US) defence project (can't remember which atm) and it came out relatively cheap when you do that.

    As to it's use, it might be very "pie in the sky" now, but sometime down the track the results might have very real practical uses.

    What use was relativity years ago? Now we all use (and need) those principles for our GPS's. The calculations for time have to take into account the speeds of the satellites and their effect on time.

    Hey how much landfill could we save with a few black holes? Found a use already...

    having just read up on how its ment to work, I suspect theres been some australian engineers in on the project.

    look at how cold it runs... Its a rival to a mythbusters episode when they were trying to cool down beer....

    well jamie it seems that liquid nitrogen just wasnt good enough, bruce here from australia has just cooled a beer in less than a second by putting it on top of the LHC and turning it up to 11.
