    Question Engineer's Certificate

    G'day lads

    Road worthy time!

However i need to know if anybody knows a VASS certified engineer in Victoria (melbourne pref) that would do me a cert for the mod done to the right hand side of the chassis the cross member under the bulkhead (bulkhead outrigger) has been moved back and you can clearly see the weld from the move however it doesn't have a cert.

Help please! Who have you guys used in the past? and how much could i expect to pay?

    Cheers

Surely you can't see the welds when they are covered by underseal material - !!!!

looking at it though, its like it has been replaced not moved. the part itself does have a bit of steel in the front that would give it the appearance that it has been moved. should the right and left bulkhead outriggers be in the same spot on opposite sides of the chassis or is one further forward/backward than the other?

I doubt there has been a mod to that x memeber - maybe repairs? Are you sure that metal you can see is not part of the X member - that one does have an exposed rib/strengthener/weld as standard.

Has anyone said it needs an engineers certificate.

If it were mine I would just take it in for the roadworthy and see what happens from there.

what he said, just take it in for the roadworthy. I very much doubt a inspector would have the knowledge of landys to be able to tell if it has been modified

i took it in this morning, they told me to get it certified.

nobody i have found on the vass list does that sort of cert though?

nevertheless when i look at the part book and look at the diagram of the chassis you can see it hasn't been mod'd only replaced...

Heavy bitumen paint and a different place to RWC will be your best option.
These VASS engineers have the game stitched up & would most likely only do a complete inspection ie $600.
The one I recently used came out & looked at the vehicle, said to contact him when it was done, and came out again for 5min when it was done and said bring it in to the workshop. They tried to hit me up for another $140 for the 5 min visit before handing over the paperwork & I had to do some fast talking to get out of it.

I used Bernard Collins and partners 03 94353537 to inspect the new engine mounts I had welded to my County.
The initial inspection was $132 which included him driving to the other side of Geelong. He did say he wanted to see the RAW welds before any coating was applied. He also inspected the rest of the vehicle and new engine.
The final inspection and report was $220.
