The older Patrol petrol engines used in the GQ and the like, used to be
beauties but a bit thirsty.
As a matter of curiosity, anyone had anything to do with these later
engines ? They are twin cam or something now arent they ?
Probably need to be put on gas, I expect.
Cheers.
Few guys in town with them. They cry when you start mentioning fuel economy - even a V8 petrol cruiser is more economical
Lots of power but when you can't do 730km to 200L... and if you tow something it gets worse
Also one I know blew its alternator - apparently not uncommon on the Patrols after 4-5 years - $1800 for a new one and 3-6 months to get from Japan as not stocked in Australia. After 3 or 4 attempts he did manage to rebuild it but it took him a few months of hunting for information.
