    03-04 Td5

    G'day guys,

    New to aulro.com
I've been looking around for a while at buying a 03-04 Disco Td5 in a manual. Since they are few and far between I've got time to look for the one I want, just wondering if anyone is able to offer up some advice on what to look for in a good one and any specific things to stay clear of.

    Thanks very much
    Cheers
    Andrew

That period they didn't all have the centre diff lock. I think they put it back in again in 04? I'm sure someone will help me with that. Either way make sure it's got it as it's a really good thing.

As to the engine, I think the oil pump bolt thing was fixed by then. The only real thing to keep an eye on is the oil in the loom (cheap to fix) and that the car has had the right coolant kept in it (OAT - should be ok if serviced by people that know LR).

All twin-pocket headlight versions (MY03 onwards) had the centre diff lock, including those built during the later part of 2002 but still MY03.

My MY03 has not had oil in the loom and has now done over 170K.

Another area to check is the fuel pressure regulator where the fuel lines meet the TD5 at the top right side of the engine. If this is oily looking the regulator is likely leaking - about $350 for another one and the same again if you get a mechanic to fit it.

Good luck with your search, cheers Erich.
