It is interesting to see the captain has his "joystick" controller on his left side. Or am I mistaken. Maybe all captains have to be left handed??

but which lever do you use to change gear?
....and don't pilots have to sit on their parachutes anymore?
The traditional control of a wheel is normally operated with the left hand while the right hand operates the throttles for the Captain, and the reverse for the copilot, so it is nothing new.
I learnt to fly in a Victa with the control column operated with the right hand and the throttle with the left and then did cross country training in a Beechcraft with conventional layout. I found no trouble changing between the two, and there was no suggestion that I should. Same as driving and steering with the right hand while gear changing - go to the States and it reverses; but using different hands is the least of your worries there!

True John, however, with the traditonal wheel you place both hands on the wheel when things get a bit tricky. With the joystick you are forced to adjust to one handed ops - I'm sure they get used to it!
Nonetheless, an amazing peice of technology - obviously Airbus have more faith in ECU's/Fly-by-wire systems than some Land Rover drivers!![]()
