BBC didn't take all the photos in his thread. Some were from a proper photographer I think.

Yes.
I will be the first to admit I have used some photographs from a Dutch professional photographer, and I declared it. He gave them to me on a CD, it was a 'this for that' because he needed to travel on my helicopter...and photographed it too. Fair trade.
