Tare weight
RACV Insurance rang me today and said if my 4wd has a tare of over 2000kg, it is eligible for a different insurance product that is cheaper or something to that effect.
My old LA chassis disco was listed by VicRoads as having a tare of 1950 kg.
VicRoads have 1300 kg tare on my current Disco (VA chassis), printed on the windscreen sticker and all.
Surely this is a typo on their behalf...?

Reason: appalling typo.

I should add that it's about this time of year that I crack the sads about my insurance price and try to find a cheaper quote. I visited a well known broker beginning in A and ended in Z and they reached a figure of $4051.89, which INCLUDED A 25% Discount because I hadn't made a claim in my first 12 months of driving AND a 5% discount because "they liked me". How nuts is that
- you can buy another whole Disco for $5,300
So yea about the tare if anyone knows why they list 1300kg?

Not sure. My rego had 2050kg marked, but on the weighbridge it came up at 2300 with a bullbar (and dog... and fuel load).
Cheers

I assume your only a young buck?
That price is crazy!
My 11 second V8 only cost me $1100 per year when I was under 25
Man, have things changed....
For that price, get 3rd Party Fire Theft and bank the rest for if the worst happens!
