    guestimate cost for project parts

    Hi all
a friend, (yes I have one) was looking at a well used RRC, price was cheap enough but it needs a few jobs doing.
I guestimated at the following is my guess about right or is it wishful thinking, parts only cost labour is DIY:

replacment radiator, BA falcon and electric fans $350 (new)
    rear top tailgate $100
    1 headlight $20
    1 indicator lens $40
A frame ball joint fitted into frame $150 inc labour
    ignition barrel and key $50
    door locks with key $50ea

Things I cant even guess the cost:
    trailing and radius arm bushes
    indicator stalk
altinator, (was reading less than normal on the amp meter)
    possibly centre diff vacum switch
possibly power steering pump (looked like it might be leaking)

Yep thats all fairly close tho the a fram could be a tad more depending who dose the work and weather they have to remove it from the rangie also or just press out old and in with new

Things I cant even guess the cost:
trailing and radius arm bushes Rubber is cheap >$15 per bush and have them pressed in at same time as A frame
indicator stalk Good one bout $50 second hand depending on model
altinator, (was reading less than normal on the amp meter) Alt may be fine if your only goin off the dash mounted gauge i take it that said rangie is pre 85 if so VN dunny dore Alt is the perfect mod for all early rangies and can be had for lees than a pinapple ($50) from wrekers
possibly centre diff vacum switch On a good geuss it will come to life if you clean all the lines remove line from switch to engin at switch with engin running should have vacume if not sort it so it dose then get under remove lines from pod on TX case best clean out is $2 wd spray spray up each line with assistant operating switch so spray comes out the vac in line give each line a good blast with a straw on the spray nozzle
possibly power steering pump (looked like it might be leaking)There fixable but fiddly find a good second hand one or pay the $$$ and get a reco one
    Cheers

Hi mate, jump onto www.fourwheeldrives.com.au and order a copy of their price catalogue, its well worth having even if you dont shop with them to help you gauge the prices of new stuff. You can pretty much any part for anything from a series one to a new Rangie. I think its only about $20 plus postage. matt
