If your Disco is ever used on a dirt road or off road, I'd resist using a K&N or similar type filter.

G`day
I was just wondering if anyone knows if removing the original air box from a 3.9ltr motor in a "95" discovery will make a difference to performance. I am thinking of fitting a pod filter. I have done this to 5ltr commodore motors and noticed the difference. Also will fitting extractors and a straight through exhaust make much difference (except for noise). And what size exhaust is recommended to get that nice deep burble, without going overboard ?
Cheers Mark

Hi, are you sure that when it was done on the commodore it actually made a difference to power and power delivery?
I know that a bloke at work took his off his little rice burner, fitted and expensive aftermarket unit and it went the same. He was confusing the increased volume of induction noise with real performance....

Original air filter is the best when it gets dusty. If it is only city use then maybe try something else.
There is a recent thread about people fitting extractors and not getting any performance benefit but loving the sound, so a quick search should turn that up.
Waynep, why do you often post replies then immediately delete them? It's a regular occurrence.
