I wish! It still takes a few minutes to load each page here at work.

At home, with Optus cable broadband, it's not much faster.

One problem that has been apparent recently at home and at work is that after submitting an edit to a page, it often sits there working away for up to 10 minutes or more - in fact, I usually end up giving up waiting for it and closing the page. Opening up another window shows the page actually has been saved. This happens with both IE6 and Google Chrome - this only happens on AULRO (Dunno about with FF2 or FF3 as I've deleted both as they crashed the computer far too often).

Maybe Optus is throttling our home plan back to force us off the current plan we have onto a more expensive plan. We currently don't have uploads included in our data allowance. The new faster plans do.

They promise 20 Mbps speeds on the new plans. I'm lucky to get 500 kbps on my current cable broadband.

'Quick Links' search on this site for 'todays posts' just took 3.4 seconds.

I have the same problem - with both Firefox and Konqueror, so I doubt it is browser dependent. I have been blaming it on the fact that I have a satellite connection, although it does not happen with all web pages; AULRO is not the only one, but it is the one that I use most often that has this problem. For comparison, the Bureau of Meteorology, with quite graphic intensive pages, will usually load four pages of radar or satellite images in less time than it takes AULRO to supply one page of text.

Mine had a similar 'page freeze' problem until I repaired my Javascript permissions a few months ago.

This happened to me too with Safari this morning when I went back to do an edit. I opened another tab, and the changes I had made had already been applied to the database so I just closed the tab.

Worth a look. I already had javascript enabled globally, but I have just increased the java applet timeout - we'll see if that makes any difference. Doesn't seem to be anything else I can change.
