Who gives Blood?

Was just reading the thread about Maccas

I gave blood the other day, Im 17 and already donated 3 times

Always used to go in with dad when I was a kid and drink his milk shake for him (those were the days

)

How many of you on here give blood?

And if not, why not?

(I understand that there is the living in Britain thing, or medical reasons)

But was just wondering .....

Not allowed to give blood by law as I lived in the UK in 1982-83 - exposure to mad cow desease or something.

I used to donate until I fell seriously ill a couple of decades back. I may be able to now but the opportunity just hasn't come up.

They won't let me but they seem to frequent the Bunnings I go to and on four occassions I have said no and they always do their best to make me feel bad about not doing it despite their rules saying I can't.

I don't think I'll ever give blood even if I can just cause they act like such tools to me when I can't.

I hate the sight of blood and even moreso needles...so don't give blood. Yep big woos, even now feeling woosy at the thought

i have been slack lately, before starting this job i used to donate in the city on the day that is deadicated for kids blood, apparantly my blood is suitable for young kids, did plasma a few as well

Over 60 donations so far, although now working on the Island I am not home half the time the suckers visit. It is difficult to find an alternative venue for when I am available. Plus my shoulder woes made me ineligible for a majority of this year.

I haven't given blood for a few years now and it upsets me that I can't. I'm not just upset about not getting the free cup of tea.

There is nothing wrong with my blood, but it is not possible to give blood without traveling to a major centre.

I used to give blood regularly in Armidale and in Narrabri.

When I moved to Yass, I gave blood until they closed the centre. When they re-opened it as a mobile centre based at Young, I gave blood again, but they closed it after a couple of months.

Now that I live on the glorious South Coast, there seems to be no way to give blood without traveling.

When I asked my GP why there was no mobile centre, his explanation was that the regulations about security of storage make it just too complicated so they don't offer that service.

I want to give blood, but I want them to at least come near my town so that I can donate.
