    Well Andrew,
We have spent a bit of time in Maroochydore with very close friends - who are also avid Land Rover people. Suggest you get in contact with the President of the Sunshine Coast LROC.

If you PM ROMAROVER on this Forum you will get in touch with him. Steve will, I am sure, give you all the advice you need. They moved there from Sydney in 1989 and have never regretted it.

If you have problems getting in touch PM me and I will email him.

    It's a lovely area.

    Cheers, Erich

That's the stuff Uncle! I have googleEARTH going and am scoping out places.

30-45 is less than half the drive to beaches here, so relatively it would be a selling point to SWMBO!

IMHO then the hills in the hinterland would be the go ( seeing as you like hills already )...yep...you can't get nicer than around Maleny & Montville.
Houses much in the same price bracket (trendy place to live) and you'll be able to pick up acres with the motza you'll get for that hills district of Sydney home (where the hell is that anyway? give me some place names and I'll know )
If I had my way I would be as far inland as I could go! However, I am fortunately enough to have a gorgeous girl who supports me and is willing to move all over the place with me, so I want to make allowances for her too.

Hills District = Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, Kellyville, et al. House prices were (pre real estate face plant) up around 700,000 / 800,000+ (many up in the millions)

I'm just wondering what your hoping to get out of the move. And what the plans are. I.e. if you want to work there what sort of work do you do or will you look at etc..

    Thanks Erich.

I might get in touch with him. Alternatively, could he be prodded into coming on here so that we can all discuss?

The move is mainly motivated by my career. I am hoping to get into Queensland Ambulance Service. ASNSW is going through a rough patch at the moment as you may have noticed...

With that in mind, anywhere in QLD suits me. The reason for focussing on Maroochy and surrounds is that SWMBO is not a country gal, is 2 years into a double uni degree (Business/Psychology), like most 19 y/o ladies loves to socialise and go to the beach and is not content to be a housewife with a part time job in a country town...

I must admit I have noticed the nsw ambos issues as I'm planning on study to be a paramedic myself. And it will be harder down here ot gte in. I know one mate who lost 600 a fortnight in pay due to cost cutting.

I don't know what you do for work now but I would be doubtful it is easy to get a job there with the ambos any more then it is here when there aren't problems. In N.s.w it is an average of 4 times applying before you get in if you have a tertiary course behind you.

Looked like it was miles away! but ran it through whereis.com and it reckons 25 mins to Maroochy. This reasonable?

Anyone know what Woombye is like?

Traffic is horrific in the Mooloolaba-Maroochydore area. Lots of shops. The location of the shopping centres are the reasons for the horrific traffic. Depending where you are going to be working, you may like to look at the small towns along the railway line north of Caboolture to Landsborough. Regular Brisbane electric train service. Short drive to beaches and 4WD play areas in forests and mountains. Can buy decent homes on small acreage thereabouts $400,000 up. Generally speaking houses on 1/2 acre and larger blocks usually have a large shed or three. Really good shopping centres at Morayfield/Caboolture but I wouldn't like to live there. Centrelink City/Feral Valley.
