I don't enjoy hitting animals, but she did the right thing. Sometimes it's better them than you.

I can't say I have ever hit more than one at a time though!

Did you paint some sheep on the side like Spitfire pilots of WW11?

I always try to drive through flocks of sheep, they will get out of the way. I was with a mate one night who was too worried about hitting one and he just kept following them, the sheep kept running for about 3 km before we could get past them. I told him the cocky would be p^*%ed off in the morning looking for his flock.

Be careful driving at goats though... they have no qualms about jumping onto and over cars!

In Outback Queensland if you kill livestock with your vehicle on a public road you are liable to pay the cost of the animal to the owner, I was about to shoot a steer(Brahman) trapped in the middle of the road in a cattle grid cause we couldn't get close enough to it to pull it out when a cop pulled up and said if I had shot the steer I would be liable for it's cost. Just then the cocky pulled up, we told him we couldn't get his steer out, he called his Red cattle dog off the back of his ute and a couple of bites and barks and this 1tonne steer was bounding over the horizon, BTW it was nightime, Regards Frank.

The owner of the sheep has offered to pay all damages to the vehicle. We are getting an independant mechanic to look underneath.
The steering arm is bent, all the rubbers on the tie rod arms are ripped off and replaced with wool. And Richard, the front diff has started leaking
Lief, this isnt Bazs road. There are over 15 crosses in 30km on this road, its a preety straight road.

From a few of you easterntaters responses you regard stock on the road as normal.
We dont graze the "long paddock" over here, except up north in station country where the road is unfenced running thru station country.
Stray stock in this part of the world is GROSS NEGLIGENCE!!! Fences are there to keep them off our roads.

Good to hear the wife is OK, and the rangie is or will be again soon!

Speaking of sheep, Leon Never got back to me - but probably just as well as we have 8 geese and 8 ducks ready for the freezer - so we will need all the space we have!

    Andy,
Glad Deb is OK, must have shaken her up big time, but she did the right thing and while mowing some sheep down, could have been worse if she swerved.
The issue in eastern states and even here is if droving it must be signposted, not stray animals.
It is rather unique driving along a main road to come across the signs, slow up and then find yourself driving through a thousand plus sheep or a hundred or so cows.
