fraser island vehicle choice advice

Jimny, they're sweet, and if nothing else would be better on the fuel consumption...

did all that yrs ago in a roofless leaf sprung suzi sierra, fun as!

and if for some bizarre reason it does get bogged, they're light enough for any chick to lift out, haha

I hired a suzuki sierra on Strady years ago. It handled sand and inland tracks really well.

They went the patrol option.

It ended up being a bit of a saga for them as they had no 4wd experience and burnt the clutch out of a 1 year old patrol in 1 day because they were driving in high range and unlocked hubs... :eek:

Day 2 it was replaced with a 200 series crusier... and a few instructions about basic 4wding;)

Didn't cost them anything except the incovienience as they took up the full insurance.

Provided me with a lot of entertainment...:D

Most of the hire 4 x4 we saw on Fraser Island in JulY I would not touch them with the proverbial barge pole. Come across a 130 Defender hire vehicle which was better then most of the hire jap crap but it seemed to have suffered a major attack from the rust worms.

The inland tracks are much more fun then the beach runs in my opinion especially things like Erics short cut which is not driven often.
