How's progress, mate? Perhaps once this is all over and your Dad is feeling better we might head out in our "07's" and make a day of it - I can go driving with you now - coz I've got my MT MTZ's on!

Glad to see he's doing OK!

My dad had a triple bypass after a heart attack 7 years ago. He's 73 now and as right as rain. Only issues that he had afterwards were some side effects from the pills he was taking to counter the side effects of the pills he was taking after the op. I think they gave him some more pills for that!

Glad to hear all is well - I reckon once anyone who has gone through major surgery starts eating, they're beggining to get better.

I live in Ekibin - 5km south east of Brisbane, between Annerley and Tarragindi.

    Lockyer SF perhaps?

    G'day Tolinja

Sorry, but I have just read this thread, I had Quad in 2001 at Prince Charles Hospt. and have never felt better, was a little second-hand for the first 24 hrs, but picked up well after that, first thing that I noticed was that both my hands, ears and feet felt the same temperature, after so long of having cold hands and feet. You/patient are a little out of it for about 18 hrs then start to function again, they will have had him up shortly after he regained consciousness, and walked him around the Coronary Recovery Unit, with nurses supporting him, then X-rayed to check there are no leaks, then into ICU section, when stabilised, will be shifted into a ward I was lucky that the surgeon that did me did a beautiful stitch job, and I only have a very fine scar line, and was not stappled up.but I can still at times feel the wire that holds my Sternum together

Hope it all goes well, remember, these people do this daily, and are very skilled at it, just like a fitter/welder who does it all day every day

    cheers

Only just read this thread - my computer also had a heart attack and is having its own quadruple bypass .

All I can say is it's ROUTINE!!! That's still hard to get your head around when you think they actually stop the heart during the process but it should help you relax about it.

My dad had a quad BP last year and I can assure you, it will be all but forgotten in a few months time. Did you ask his doctor how many of these he does a week? If it is like my dad's, probably about 7-8 (more than one a day on average).

We are soooo lucky to be living in a time when this kind of MAJOR surgery can be done with so little fuss and risk. Re-read this thread in a few weeks - it may bring a smile to your face.

    Hello Tony,

Glad to hear it all went well. I actually run the bypass machine for cardiac surgery. (Perfusionist). Sounds like a normal recovery, and he is doing well. If you have any questions, feel free to pm me, and I'll try and answer. Look after yourself also.

    Cheers,
    Ken
