A question for the Fridgies
G'day All
For some time I've noticed an increased load being placed on the engine when the Aircon compressor cycles in.
I know that the bearings in the tensioners and idlers probably need changing out but I had a listen to them tonight and whilst they are "rumbling" they certainaly are not U/S.
My question is "how hard should the compressor be to turn over by hand"? On a couple of occasions the compressor has kicked in @ idle and added a considerable load to the engine knocking about 300 rpm off idle (from 800 to 500).
I have turned over the compressor with the engine off and its seriously hard to rotate by hand indicating that the bearings are at a "pre sieze" state.
What r ur thoughts? Any info would help greatly.
Cheers,

It does sound a bit suss, best you find someone else nearby and try theirs, mine doesnt seem all that hard to turn with the clutch enguaged.
