Sounds like an ideal club. None of the club semantics - bliss.
Does the NE go down as far as Longwood?
It's about time we brought everyone up to day with the happenings of the NEVLRC.
I've settled back with a Tullamore Dew after receiving a PM from one of our members which triggered this expose of our Mob.
Just to explain, we had a Land Rover Day today and one of our mob couldn't make it (habitually can't "make it") - we thought something sinister may be wrong - but relief, it is just work etc (not health) so I guess after thinking the worst for our mate we are more than relieved. We are going to belt the bastard next time we see him however.
A few of you may have been following our antics on our specific site. Hope you have had a few laughs at our expense too.
We are basically a non-conformist group - yeah, Ok - we have one bloke and his missues who are "clubbies' but we reckon he comes to us - well like an alcho goes to AA - he needs to "clubbie de-stress".
Now don't get me wrong here. I'm not knocking Clubs. Just plain and simple - our mob doesn't want a President, Secretary, Boss or whatever (everyone, and I mean everyone knows Al is the General and Ivan is the Commisar - we just don't say that in front of them).
Anyway... our mob.
Had a great trip during the winter to several mountain huts etc., one bloke nearly rolled his Deefa and another took a Kluger EVERYWHERE we took our Rangies, Deefas, Discos and skateboards - he was unbelievable (or we thought he was until we found out his WIFE was driving).
The blokes meet every four or 5 weeks or even earlier at a pub - Seb and Barra1 (that's me) drink too much and but love it; Olmate goes home early and everyone else just enjoy themselves.
The meetings? When someone wants one - he puts a post up. Where? Someone suggests a pub - that's where it is.
That's it.
Had a fishing trip - proved there is only one fisherman in our lot.
Christmas party last weekend. Camped on Sly's farm - Amy, Angus and Archie made us feel more than welcome - Sly left early for work after keeping us awake until 3am.
Seven or eight families camped there for the Saturday night - next day on the way home The Cranky One said "What a wonderful group of people" (she should know by now that ALL Land Rover people are wonderful - she said the same thing after Cooma this year) - anyway I asked "What makes you say that" (I felt particularly intelligent after that - it was just one of those leading questions - you know...) - anyway "what makes you say that" I ask...
The Cranky One: Nobody has an ego and nobody judges.
Reckon that sums up the NEVLRC.
Anyway that it enough of the "damn, we are good" stories.
Today.
A blokes' bloke day. No women - sorry ladies - but it was blokes day. A Landy Blokes day.
Land Rovers up on the hoist. Check it out - yep my leak is bigger than yours. Ohhhh heellll - I've got to fix that. Where did you get that from. How did you do that. I'll make that for you. Watch Kev do this. Seb is on a mission. Sly is not going to be happy.
Food?Sausages, bread and BBQ Sauce!!!! No salad (OK - one and I say one - bloke had a bit of avocado and he is going to confession for it - OK?)
Had Old Blokes like me there and young blokes - no one had an issue - no one needed to drink (did I really say that).
You come away from a day like that feeling like a kid again. I reckon only the older blokes reading this will know what I mean - and know what I'm saying. A kid again.
Our group maintains mountain huts - something that we hold with great pride - not to mention the great times working on the huts.
We have a mate (Sschmeez) and his wife (Annette) and son (Nicholas - thank God he looks like Mum) who travel from Melbourne to join us on all trips - just thought I would mention them because they are a great couple.
When I read about other Land Rover groups and meet other Land Rover fanatics I realise our group - the NEVLRC is not much different from your group or your Club - whether it is the Gold Coast Club, the Victorian Club, NSW Club or the Geebung Polo Club.
And that is why, Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to invite all AULROians who are ever in our district to give us a call and join us on one our jaunts. All you need is a sense of humor and a bit of front to turn up in the first place.![]()

Sounds like the exact same ideals we started the GCLRO with... most of us had been in clubs previously and knew what we hated about them... so changed it. We did form of course from 7 aulro members
