    when prices rise....

Is it just me or when prices rise do you see more people trying to get away with or expecting more.?.

today being poets day I did a run to the tip and shock horror stun amaze The prices have gone up a trailer that I normally take loaded up past the sides an bulging a tarp for $3 cost me $5 and it was only just level with the sides.

when I went to pull in it was a little busy and the shaded side was filled with people that need to get out and practice reversing a trailer but I wasnt in a hurry I had HHGTTG on the mp3 player and had managed to park up in the shade.

The mess was incredible most time Ive been most people take a shovel and broom and at least clean up the area where they were parked. I do it mainly because I usually have a mixed load and its easy enough to pick up a nail or bit of wire in the tyre and thats not cool....

the guy driving the bobcat they use for clean up asked me if Id mind waiting while he cleaned up a bit I didnt so he did and got a nicely cleaned bay...

after Id done the unload thing (dontcha just love watching the dozer "play" with some of the bigger items) I pulled out the shovel and the broom, cleaned out the trailer then cleaned up the bay using them... they guy on the bobcat came over and made comment on how few people do that since the prices went up.

    Got me to thinking...

what places have you been where they've put the prices up and people are no longer as "socially responsable" as they were before?

Same sort of thing here Dave , except a trailer load is $8 . the place looks a mess after a few have dropped their crap off . From what i can gather it is not cheap for the yards to get rid of the waste that they can't do anything with . some people just expect way to much sometimes .

Dave the thing with the ipswich dump is the barriers are that big that you can,'t help but make a mess. I never think to take a broom to clean up, but I usually scrape up my mess with my boots.

I don't know if being "socially irresposible" has anything to do with price rises , may be your'e right and people are trying to getaway with a lot more seeing they are paying more. I have noticed people riding the "loud peddle" more often since fuel prices have dropped

At my local tip when prices went up I noticed people not being as honest as they were. They would say they were only taking recyclables in which is free and dump extra things in the large bins like wood and household junk.

Currently we have landfill and I reckon I average 10 bucks a load and that's affordable but soon they are changing it to styles they have in sydney where it is indoor and they crush it and move it on and what I pay $10 for now will go up to over 50 or 60 bucks and they won't take oil and recyclables for free either then. So I'm busy cleaning up my block.

Thats ridiculous what you guys are paying.

Last time I had a major yard cleanup about six months ago I filled my hiace with green waste, about 6 cubic metres and got charged $6 at Redcliffe tip, but only because it was green waste not general.

Got smart the next day and took the same quantity of green waste but took a couple of bottles of waste oil for recycling which made it mixed green/general waste and got in for free.
