    Dakar Starts this Sunday

SBS is again showing highlights at 6pm.

Not that its really the Dakar this year as its now in South America starting and finishing in Buenos Aires. I suppose it was inevitable given the security issues last year and in previous years as well as the cancellation of the event in very late 2007.

My wife and I had that exact same conversation!

Probably find the Australia Government regulations for such an event would prevent it from happening though.

I'm sure we are not the first to think of it - perhaps the bottom line is more money over there!

Perhaps we could push for a different continent each year - I am sure across Siberia, Mongolia and China would be fun or perhaps Mexico, Baja, USA could be good too.

After seeing bits of the Wynns Safari in the 1980's the Dakar would be amazing!

Maybe not crossing though different countries but they would cross through various time zones depending on the route.

Must be the dinner table conversation this time of year as we thought it should be here, with about 3 million odd sqaure miles of land (and the odd Antartic island) it would be exceptionally lush to have here.

Could call it the Paris-Sydney...one stage in paris...into a plane....fly to perth and then 40 days to Sydney. Call it Paris-where ever doesnt have to be Sydney...just has to be here.

wheres Jeff K when you need him to pinch something. althought pinching from SA isnt as difficult as pinching the P-D

Same thought re K747 wouldnt be interested...no sorry...no kyoto...basically nothing to get his head on the box to tell us all how marvellous he is. we could kit out Julia to look like the Stig and drive....naaah
