Don't think there's much danger they'll have their act together by then!

Seriously though, noone can stay on top of the game for ever. Australia were due for a fall after losing so many top players such as Warnie & Gilchrist. They've been on top of the ladder for quite a while. It's only natural that things would change.

It'll be interesting to see today's play & what decisions are made after this game.

I really feel for the poor buggers. But, geez, the South Africans are playing fantastically well. Steyn is a force to be reckoned with. Very aggressive player & not bad with a bat to boot! He's got 74 wickets so far this year, & will go from strength to strength. Not to mention of course Dominy & the captain. Hell, they're all doing really well.

    retire hayden
sack punter as the captain (he can still stay as a batsman)
    rest symonds
    rest lee
give pup a go as captain

get ready for an India, South Africa domination for a decade

I'm suprised Hayden didn't raise the bat when he got to double digits yesterday.. He is a good batsman at times but he is nowhere near as consistent as a test cricketer should be. IMO he has gotta go.

LOL @ India dominating for 10 years - they have 4-5 batsmen just hanging around growing their retirement funds.

Australia's current selectors do not have the ruthlessness of old - Hayden would be gone, Symonds would have needed to be in form to earn his place and Lee would have been put on sick leave upon return from India. There is obviously a need to retain a team structure, but when you have 3 batsmen way out of form (Hayden, Hussey and Symonds) and 2 bowlers (Lee and Symonds) also out of form with only sporadic and unreliable input from Haddin with the bat, I think the time is now for a more critical look at the team and make the buggers earn their slot not just rely on past glories for 5 years.

I think Australia has something ridiculous like 25 tests in 2009 - it could be a rough ride for fans!

I wonder if we'll now see India & South Africa dominating the scene for a few years?

Apparently Lee's having an operation on his left foot. Must say though, although he's obviously in a lot of pain bowling this morning, he hasn't been doing too bad a job (considering), not good enough though. God only knows what's happening with Symonds knee. He's more a liability.

    FINALLY 1/121!!!

Hawitz got Smith out on 75.

I was beginning to wonder if we were going to get any wickets at all.

Who feels sorry for these blokes?
Australian cricket stars worth $17 million | The Courier-Mail

They've had a good run, they have also set the bar for sledging/bad sports/appealing every ball and thinking the world owes them a living. Stuff em, let somebody else have a win for a while. Ricky boy can go back to brawling over transvestites at nightclubs and betting on who's dog has been doped enough to win. Bewdy.
