And thanks for the info on Hilditch. Though it's beyond me why he's on the selection panel seeing as he was only a "B" grade test player.
I am no fan of Hilditch, but our last two coaches havent even made it to B grade test player. One of those was Buck who we had some of our finest moments with.

Maybe we need to get away from appointing selectors just because they have played test cricket. It gets like a bit of an old boys network sometimes.

Got to agree with that. It is a bit like making someone captain because they can bat.

I must confess I have no knowledge of coaches or selectors for that matter. I thought it would be a good thing to appoint selectors who have played test cricket??? Am happy to stand corrected though. Why would it be a bit like an old boy's network?

I just dont believe that being a test player is a necessary pre requisite to being a test selector although it may help in earning the respect of the players. For example, if you listen to some of the various commentators or read newspaper articles, a lot of these guys are not ex test players or possibly not even successful first class players but they still have a very good insight into the game and what is required to make a successful team. They may even be a bit less blinkered in their thinking and therefore able to think outside the square.

I see your point. Hadn't thought of it from that perspective, especially thinking outside the square. I find most of the commentators quite good, and quite comical at times!

What's your take on Bollinger & McDonald? I thought that bloke Jason, (can't think of his last name, it's a wierd name with a "J" and I think a "Z" in it) seemed like a good contender for the Sydney match - don't know much about Bollinger or McDonald.

Australia won the toss - 0/7 Hayden & Katich batting (Katich has got the 7 runs so far).

Let's hope we do a bit better than the last few matches.

By the way, I am pretty sure that Hilditch is Bobby Simpsons (ex Aussie Opener, Captain, and coach) son-in law. But no, I am sure, the old boys network has nothing to do with it.

Ahhhh, I see ... makes perfect sense now.

    0/47 - Hayden 11, Katich 33.

Well, that's it! I can't watch anymore. We're on the downward slide. 2/63 - Ponting's out for a duck! This is way too painful ...
