    G'day 2Keen

A good 300TDI auto would be that way to go, 97/98 about 200K or below, or a very good 96 facelift dash model The autos don't drop off the power band when changing like a manual will do, and a better towing vehicle, easy to work on, same basic block as earlier motors and mech injection, just make sure there is written evidence of when the timing belt was last changed, (needs to be changed at 80,000klm intervals) wheel bearings are easier to service than the D2, good hunting, BTW check out the "Markets" on this site

    cheers

I had a drive of Rangiemans new Deefa the other day and other than being manual (I have buggered knee's so cant work heavy clutch pedals for very long anymore) it went like a rocket.

Ive been looking over my poor old Disco over the last 2 days and some rust is coming through in places I dont want it to as well as things are getting tired but it's only done 317,000kms.

I very much doubt that a 300 Tdi would get the same power as the TD5 BUT....I dont really think that it is all that nessesary either.

I would love a Deefa but there is the problem with them being manual and the other with me being.......FAT and so I struggle to get comfy though the Extreme seat felt good and the park brake wasnt hitting the permanent bruise from all the times Ive driven older Deefas in the past.

SO.....unless someone has an around 2001 Deefa extreme with auto conversion done for a very reasonable price, what should I be looking for in one of those good for nothing D2's.....or should I just go back to a Landcruiser

I just had to quote you before you deleted it!

It's quite a common human theme, we all come full circle eventually. Like Jack van Tongeren - big white supremecist but it turned out he was part Indonesian. Like all the kids at high school who are ridiculously homophobic, then BAM, first year uni, out like a light.
